If you’re anything like me, getting enough water can be a struggle. As the recommended amount of water is 2 liters (or eight 8 ounce glasses) per day, drinking enough water can feel like a full-time job. But with a few tricks, getting hydrated can feel as easy as it does great.

  1. Start your morning right. Before you do anything else, pour yourself 12 ounces of water and squeeze an entire lemon into it. Chug-a-lug. Not only does it kickstart your metabolism, but once your body digests the lemon it has proven to be alkalizing with many health benefits.

  2. Choose the right vessel. I love to use a big ball jar because it feels good in my hand and it says the ounces on the side so that I can easily monitor my water intake.

  3. Make it fashion. I like to fill my jar up with lots of ice, citrus or cucumber slices and use a metal straw. It feels special, like a day at the spa and I drink water 2x faster.

Benefits of drinking water include maximizing your energy levels and brain function, aiding in physical performance, preventing headaches, aiding in digestion, lubricating your joints, delivering oxygen throughout the body, boosting skin health, flushing body waste, maintaining a healthy blood pressure and combating kidney damage. So no more excuses. Get drinking!
